Hello MusicB, hope I'm putting this in the right area. I bought a new songbook for my saxophone, and came across a strange not I'd never seen before, and was wondering if someone could help me out.

The one in the attachments. Anybody have any ideas?

Cheers.

Its an acciacatura, also known as a grace note. You play the small, struck through note very quickly just before you play the note thats full size after it.

think of it like playing a hemidemisemiquaver before a breve. YOu play one note as quickly as possible before the second. The difference is that the second note lands on its notated beat, as opposed to just after it.
