Buying instruments off of ebay...
I want to buy a guitar off of ebay and I want to know if anyone else does it. I am not trying to buy anything high-end. I just want something that can play jazzy stuff well. The guitar I have right now is horrible and could only pass in a noise rock band.

i bought instruments off ebay, everything turned out good.
but it really depends on the seller and if hes a jerk or actually cares about if your satisfied |
There were two people in my school band who bought their horns off of ebay. One looked like a trash can and one sounded really nice and I was surprised to hear he got it off of ebay. I think the trashcan was like 50 and the nice one was 300 (considering that brand new mellophones cost like a thousand dollars). So, be weary and you could probably find something nice.

I get all of my instruments off ebay, just make sure the guy has good feedback and has made more then a few sales.

Yeah, it's like anything else. I've had a lot of success with eBay, haven't bought any instruments off there to speak of though.
My friend bought a junker off eBay for like $75 and a really sweet Fender jazz bass for around $800. No problems at all. Another guy I know has a small army of awful guitars that he collects just because he can. |

Its really a hit or miss thing, sometimes there honest other times there not. And make sure to get mail insurance if your presented the opportunity. |
Well the thing is, I am not trying to get anything special. I would even settle for a Squire (since I am looking at Fender guitars.) Right now I have a First Act that my little brother bought from Wal-Mart and never used. The thing has been stepped on some kid ripped like three of the strings out. The tremolo is f-ed up. It goes out of tune pretty much every time I strum it. The only cool thing about it is that it gets immense feedback and sounds so horrible that (like I said) it could pass in a noise rock band. However, I want to play more Jazzy stuff.
Also, if you guys have any recommendations for a jazzy-style guitar that I can find for around $200 hundred dollars on ebay, that would be great. It doesn't have to be a really good guitar either. |
Personally if I were you I would buy a Samick Royale 1 or 2. You can buy them new or slightly used from 200-400 dollars online, ebay, and many other local stores.
Has a FANTASTIC jazz tone for the price and is an absolutely beautiful guitar. I own the RL2 and it has never failed me. Not to mention made quite well. The only downside is the pickups are not the best. Although if your really dissatisfied (which I doubt you will be) you can just buy some new one for not to much more $. Link To Samick's Website Page of these guitars. http://www.gregbennettguitars.com/images/rl-2_medm.jpgThis is my RL2 that I got for 250. Sounds and feels wonderful. |
Buy everything off Craigslist, what a great wonderful site.
I bought a Yamaha Stage Custom Drum set for $500. Okay good deal right? $900 kit for $500. OH wait, the hardware is all Gibraltar. The cymbals were Zildjian ZXTs (:| yeah). Basically brand new heads. And to top it off the $500 snare that came with the kit. I am a firm supporter of craigslist :3 |

sites like that are great if you happen to live in a large urban area, but if you're on the outskirts or in a rural area your options become far more limited. it's also far easier to get scammed through sites like kijiji or craigslist where the sites are rather clear about being absolved of any responsibility in regards to any failed or less than satisfactory deal. the ONLY time i would use those sites is to buy something locally where i can check it out first hand, i would NEVER even consider getting something shipped from those sites. |

2. And no the Forum is a very respectable beginner kit. For the low price of 500$ the kit does wonders. Hardware s generally garbage for all entry level sets, but the actually drum quality is not bad at all. They will last you years if you replace hardware and keep up with maintenance. I dont know what you are basing your opinions off, but I have owned both sets in my life time and they have served there purpose quite well, with the forum definitely being my favorite of the two. |
I bought my sons Fender Mustang (new) off ebay from a dealer with terrific feedback. It saved me a fortune and is a decent axe.
The thing is, most of the time you`ll probably be ok, if you know exactly what you want. i.e. make, model. However you`ll be fked if the neck is warped or twisted - these guys are not official dealers, so check their refund policy. Most other issues can be resolved/fixed up and you may be better off $$ wise. The Best option (i reckon) is to buy second hand and try yourself before buying. Not always easy if you live in remote areas with limited sales. Good luck. |
i havent personally bought anything myself but i think if the guy seems credible and you arent getting anything too expensive it should be fine.
Most people arent set on ripping other people off |
Had a friend buy a Bass on of Ebay. Turned out well, and he pawned it for more than he peid for it. lol.
