Default Wood?

Was wondering, how i tell if my 2007 US Strat body is made from alder or ash? Had a search on the web but can`t find anything conclusive & wouldn`t know the difference in real life (even if two identical pieces were swung and hit me on the head (although the first hit would probably seem more solid.))

Most strats are made from alder. Although without a real model name we can't tell for certain.

Its just a plain American Standard Strat if thats any indication? No big deal, i was just wondering myself as i heard they sometimes change the wood supply. But i don`t know a whole lot about it.

To my knowledge, during 2007 certain models of stratocaster were made with different woods. I don't believe the woods ever changed within a single run.

If I had to guess, I'd say the standard series, would be straight up alder, since its the more traditional american series model than any other, thus I'd expect it to use the standard strat wood.
