Default Learning Alto Sax

Hey guys, my high school pops band needs an alto saxist, so I decided to help them by learning it

Do you guys know of any good, simple songs I could learn to help me get acquainted with the notes of the sax and the basic style of playing

I already have a little experience with tonguing from playing the tin whistle

I learned the Bb Concert Scale and the main riff from Smoke on the Water so far

Thanks,

K

The Beatles - All My Loving
Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender

^ Those are a couple of non-jazz ones my teacher got me started on, and are pretty damn simple to play.

i can't think of any specific songs off the top of my head but there has to be a bunch of springsteen tunes that fit the bill here.

Not a bad idea this.

10th Avenue Freeze-Out's a pretty good one to start with.
