Thor bass

Okay, so I'm not up to the 15 post standard, so I can't yet throw in a URL here. But check this **** out.

Just a one guy operation in New Hampshire, USA.
Some of the most beautiful basses ever.

the look of the wood is really nice, especially the darker hollowbody fretless 5 string they have. unfortunately the overall shape of the instrument is atrocious to my eyes.

KelticKalamity 03-27-2009 10:01 PM

Kind of looks like a copy of the Schecter/Warwick designs rolled up into one

The only part of the shape that I disagree with is the headstock. But in an other sense... are you ****ing mad?? They're freakin beautiful!!! I dont know. I am a sucker for wood grain.

the headstock is the only thing about the shape i like. as i said before, the wood itself is really nice, especially on the hollowbody. i just really don't like that back end and the way it turns on itself. same with the weird points on the sides. i like smooth contours, that's just too pointy for me.

more power to you if it floats your boat though. i just won't be getting in line ahead of you to get one hehe.

I prefer something a little more plain

Yes, a lot mellower than we are. Whenever we send them a demo or something, one of the guys is always like, "You guys sound really angry."

I agree. But to me, they just look like tamed monsters. Especially the semi-hollow bodied one. Imagining the kind of sounds you could get outta that ****er.

crash_override 03-30-2009 04:06 PM

yeah those bartolini's look pretty beefy also. i bet it thumps.

GuitarBizarre 03-30-2009 04:38 PM

WoodGrain? Good. I gather everyone knows that, since I own an S2170FW.

That shape? Trying way too hard to appeal to everyone at once, and frankly its ****ing ugly.

Now THIS is a good natural finish guitar/bass:

There are hundreds more, but frankly, I've seen things designed like the thor bass before, and they're pig ugly.

mr dave 03-30-2009 05:07 PM

i like the custom dragonfly quite a bit but i find the conklin basses suffer from the same thing warwicks and so many others suffer from, that extra long top horn is nasty especially on that 9-string. i know it's meant for comfort and balance but man it hurts my eyes.

hahahahaha

DMBassDude 03-31-2009 07:17 PM

Not bad, but I like more of a Strat- shaped body, I guess. Kinda looks like a BC rich exotic warlock. And it's outta my Price Range. My dream bass:
