nope hehe. i'm definitely another and i've read interviews with others who share the same opinion although i can't think of any off the top of my head hehe.

actually i'm 50/50 on new strings. i really like the sound of new unwound strings, they're nice and bright and cut through just about anything. but... i find the lower strings sound way too tinny and weak when they're new, it eliminates the dark chunkiness from my low end.

Reversed photo mate, done on the PC!

Dave, i sort of know what you mean, the unwound ones are great but the bass strings can seem a bit metalic for the first day or so. I don`t know why?
I usually change strings a day or so before anything important.

I also am not a fan of fresh guitar strings for the same reasons you cited Mr. Dave, but I also regularly unwind and clean them really well along with the fretboard. seems to do the trick.

I just have a bad habit of trying new strings for different sounds. Sometimes I fall in love with a sound and in turn it effects the style I play, but then there are times when I get poor results and change them almost immediately and throw the old under my bed in case I break one, then Im really effed up.
