tab?

i want to preface my question with a little background. i am just now starting to play guitar again after a 15 yr hiatus. of course much of my knowledge and skill has evaporated so i have been looking at some tab on the internet to pick up peices of songs that i can't remember or don't know.

here's the meat of my post:
i have discovered a large percentage of the tab on the internet is inaccurate, some of that is flat-out wrong. and even those are copied from site to site. almost no one tabs the solos.
is there a free site where i can find reliable tab? for example,
i was looking through some ac/dc stuff the other day and they had tabbed the song so that it would sound right, but not it's not the way angus plays it.
i know that he is very meticulous about playing it the simplest way possible. you can even watch some of the videos and see his hands are not where the tab shows. same for nugent. have any of you noticed this?

.....I'd say learn the inacurate tab and then listen to the record, then try to bridge the gap between the two. Even if the tabs innacurate they'll at least get the key or some chords/root notes right. It could be two seemingly insignificant notes that can throw the whole thing off, and it's your job to find out what those notes are. Dissect it like you would a frog...it's not that fun at first, but it'll help learn other songs faster.

....There's the literal transcription and then there's playing style/feel.That's probably a lot more important than the tab, otherwise most ac/dc songs are just a bunch of chords. It's the little variations that angus young puts on the chords that are most important.

....and yes a lot of times songs are a hell of a lot simpler than you think.(I remember thinking "satisfaction" had to be complex than it sounded like)

...youtube has amateur guitar lessons.

....most solos are based off the penatonic blues scale...learn johnny b. goode, most of youngs solo's are just variations of the same thing. "back in black" is basically "shakin all over".

...also what sites were you going to for tab?

...and if you know a lot of this stuff already I apologize in advance.

sorry dude,

the heyday for online tabs was in the mid 90s when OLGA (on-line guitar archive) was in full effect and not getting sued when users transcribed directly from cherry lane music books or guitar world magazines.

the last tab site i remember using was - ULTIMATE GUITAR TABS ARCHIVE | 300,000+ Guitar Tabs, Bass Tabs, Chords and Guitar Pro Tabs!

it's not perfect, everything is more or less homemade since they don't want to get sued. your best bet is to get multiple versions of tabs and piece together the best version you can get. it's also very rare to find solos tabbed out as well, and when you do.... well... you think the rhythm is tabbed out wrong.... HA!

or spend the $40 at the music store for the proper book. last time i spied GW magazine it still had a half dozen tunes in it as well. not just new stuff either, which makes for a much cheaper option if they feature a tune you're looking for.

I used a different tab site called Taborama back when I was in school and every other day when I had my computer class I used their printers to print out the tab.

Ultimate-Guitar.com has the biggest selection and a lot of the songs are written using Guitar Pro or Power Tab so you can use those programs to follow along. The reason that website is still up is because the server is based in Russia where the MPA laws have no effect.

...do you think it's possible that they have the official sheet music in torrent form somewhere?
