Cheapest Gretsch Hollowbody Model

I need to know the 5 cheapest models of Gretsch Hollowbody Guitars.

i'm just basing myself on musician's friend online store.

the cheapest hollowbody has a MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) of $1000 that would be the G5120/22 for either single or double cutaway. they sell them for $699

the 5th from bottom is the G6118 Anniversary with a MSRP of $2500

either way you're still looking at a solid grand to get your hands on a legit gretsch hollowbody. quite frankly, the fact that you can't even gather information this simple (or word your demand into the form of a question) on your own leads me to believe you aren't really ready to drop the kind of cash necessary to get your hands on an instrument like this.

just to fully answer...

4th cheapest - G100CE - $1050
3rd - G6131SMY - $2150 to $2225
2nd - G6131MY - $2350 to $2425

and yes, 2nd and 3rd are Malcolm Young signature series, the cheaper one only has 1 pickup.

i really don't know why you'd want to get a cheap Gretsch. i was looking into them a while ago when i was searching for a good hollowbody. the expensive models were wonderful, i liked what i heard from them, but the price was far too steep for the guitar. the cheaper models, on the other hand, lacked the feel and tonal depth that i looked for in a hollowbody in the first place.

i'm still looking for a hollowbody but i've given up on Gretsch for the time being, i just can't find the justification for spending $2500+ on a chunky Dot ripoff.

Washburn

Hi there,

I would recommend checking out Washburn hollow bodies. There are several models to choose from and they all seem to in the $300-500 range. Some of the pick ups on these relatively cheap guitars are amazing, especially for a rough warm bluesy sound, very powerful.

If you like the expensive Gretch guitars then these are certainly worth checking out for about 1/4 the price.

Gordon.
