Default Microphone setup problem

I just purchased a set of six Microphones for my hand drums and our mixer does not have enough inputs for all of my mics. I need to buy an inline unit that has six inputs that the microphones can plug into and one output that goes to the mixer. Where can I find such a thing and what is it called? Am I better off just getting a separate amplified mixer for my microphones? Thanks in advance!

Hey DamonO,

I would recommend getting a mixer that can take your six mics and then send a stereo mix to the main mixer. If you are going to another mixer you don't want a powered unit. If you get your own powered mixer then you'll have to set up your own speakers and it won't be as sexy as going into the main board.

If you can run the cables so your sound engineer has control over the balance you'll be doing well.

As far as a specific recommendation you would do well with a Mackie mixer. You'll have to find one with six XLR inputs so you may have to get more mixer than you need but at least you'll have some flexibility.

BTW - I'm a percussionist also. Best of luck!
