I just performed a full crazy-mod on my overdrive pedal (video content)

It's my first pedal mod, but I think I did a really good job. I gave it my all.

I even video documented the transformation. It's crazy cool!

LMFAO...

Gee man, I think I've seen some of your Handjob Hooptie model cars driving around town the other day.
Say, how much would you charge for someone to send their wife in for a modification?

lol...

BAM! HANDJOBS!!!

Dr.Seussicide 01-19-2010 07:53 PM

Handjobs are a mess

Best video ever, I love this site.

FETCHER. 01-19-2010 07:59 PM

What on earth are you trying to achieve by smashing that thing up

The BAM! HANDJOBS! made me chuckle though.

duga 01-19-2010 08:02 PM

give me an address...all my pedals are coming to you

Thrustin 01-19-2010 08:05 PM

I was thinking about asking $160 for this particular pedal. Do you think I could get more?

If you added bits of old phlegm from an actual cancer patient, I think you could go up at least another 50 dollars.

duga 01-19-2010 08:07 PM

for such a professional handjob?

easily.

It's ok. You can use some of the money to buy him a Hallmark card.

I liked what I saw, but that's a little out of my price range personally. How much would it be for just a simple sandpaper handjob? What would the damage be?

If you provide the pedal and pay the shipping, I could do a sandpaper handjob and video tape it for $20. That's fair, right?

Wow, I'm sold. The video tape would be a huge bonus too! I would love to be able to follow along and practice, and hopefully, perfect that technique in the future...for whenever the need arises.

I actually don't recommend you try this yourself. Handjobs Pedalworks uses nothing but the most best and trusted techniques, executed in the most traditional and breakthrough ways. We do it right at Handjobs Pedalworks!

Damn that's discouraging. I'd really love to do this... I'd do whatever it takes to learn. I'd practice every day...I'd commit all kinds of blood, sweat, and tears to it...oh well :(

I know it looks like fun, but it's really the finished product that is the important part. It both makes me money and insures thy you have a properly modded pedal.

the vintage look hipsters make messes in their pants for.

sad thing is, he can probably get more for that pedal by trying to sell it as a 'vintage mod' than he could at the start of the clip. $160 as an asking price and a willingness to let it be haggled to just under $150 and i think it's got a shot.

Farfisa 01-21-2010 10:41 AM

I like my pedals to look pretty... that aside I got tingly feelings rubbing my feet to your mouth words.

Your video about modifying pedals to give a well-worn look was very professional, Thrustin, and I'm impressed by what you do at Handjobs, Inc, especially the cutting away of the rubber to achieve a "gnawed-by-squirrel" effect. Having been at a rock concert once where the musicians complained about a herd of squirrels damaging their equipment, I never thought such a realistic appearance for a pedal could be achieved without facing the hazards of road-tripping musicians.

I realize I won't be able to simulate the look of an aged pedal here at home as well as you do in your shop, but in case I try I have one small question. It's about the "socket in the sock" stage.

I noticed that you said the toe and heel color of said sock don't matter...but in your video you always referred to using a "dress" sock. This has me concerned. I don't own any dress socks. In your professional opinion, would a sports sock...perhaps a 90% cotton, 10% nylon one...work as well? Or would the added fluffiness of my non-dress sock produce only small dents that don't provide the full "aged" look your company promises and thus my home version would stand out as an obvious fake?

Thank you in advance for your help. And keep up the good work. It's nice to see American entrepreneurship alive and well.

Thrustin 01-21-2010 12:54 PM

I've never tried to mod a pedal with a sports sock. I cannot speak to their effectiveness. While I like to keep things fresh and am generally willing to try new things a jock/meathead mod I don't see in my future. Go ahead and give it a whirl a home. Dump some Gatorade on it while your at it!

Just get some dress socks.
