DIY Thumb Rest
 

After years of using a pick exclusively, I began trying a 2-finger method which made me realize a need for an 'anchor'. After many position attempts, I realized the need for a dedicated thumb rest. Not finding much of what I wanted online, I designed one which I am using now. Not wanting to deface my $400 bass, I opted for a very small-hole drilled, which I can fill-in later if I ever sell the bass (ESP LDT-4). The following PIX demonstrates my $11 DIY thumb rest.
