am i the only person who finds the heft of a Les Paul comforting? it actually feels like you're holding onto something with actual mass behind it. those hole guitars look like sponges, i'd be paranoid about breaking them.

IMO it's comforting unless you gig (standing) with it. Then it's just a nightmare, according to the guitarist of a band I was in who played a Les Paul. He even had a thick, soft strap and he complained.

But otherwise? Yea. I played his a lot on down-time during our practices and every time I'd play my old Strat when I got home, it felt like I was playing a toy.

I actually don't mind the weight when I play one standing up, its when I sit down and the darn things slides off my leg because the only thing keeping it on the lap is a small little arm type thing formed by the cut away.

It's almost like you need to play it laying down. Reclining works though, so that most of the weight is on your stomach.

My only problem with the thinline I just got is the fact that its neck heavy. I figure though slipping a bigsby vibramate and a heavier bridge will solve that problem though.
