Kurt Cobain's Guitars

Found this blog interesting.

Kurt's Guitars Now

It tries to track all the guitars Kurt Cobain used/destroyed.

I'd love to get my hands on a Jag-Stang. Even though I hear they play awful it'd be a piece of memorabilia I'd cherish forever.

I know that the blue Jag-stang was given to Peter Buck of REM, and Buck used it in the video for "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?"

I'm not sure if Peter still has the guitar.

I thought they made more then a few of them.
I know you can get it custom but that wouldn't be the same.

I never quite thought of it until reading the blog, but it seems that Seattle is home to two of rock's more iconic lefty guitar players: Kurt Cobain & Jimi Hendrix. I'm kinda' partial to that info, being a lefty guitarist myself (I'm a pretty big fan of Seattle too).

Dude, they really are peice of **** guitars and just overall, ugly looking things. You can get one off ebay for like 600 bones. Kurt Cobain was honestly a horrible guitar player and he should have never been able to work with Fender to get his own custom guitar.

Yeah, pretty much. I like Nirvana...he was a good songwriter, don't get me wrong. I just think it is sad that he had real issues recording the clean intro to Smells Like Teen Spirit. Not the mark of a talented guitar player. Butch Vig nearly lost his mind over that one.

There were, of course, the original guitars and then there were re-issues. I don't know how many guitars were produced in total though.

And Mike Mills of REM used the same blue Jag-stang on the song "Let Me In" This clip is from the REM documentary Rough Cut:

So maybe he couldn't play guitar. He was the most prolific guitar-rapist to walk this Earth, however.

That's a beautiful instrument. It'd be quite the thing, owning on of his.
I thought this would be pretty cool to own. Maybe, later, when I'm rich.

NIRVANA Kurt Cobain Autographed FRAMED - Edmonton Collectibles For Sale - Kijiji Edmonton

Burning Down 04-27-2010 09:36 PM

That's pretty cool. But I'm thinking that the price of $5750 is too high. I mean, it's not like it's a letter written and autographed by the Beatles or something. I'm also wondering if those records framed with it are original pressings? They have to at least be in absolute mint condition and never played to merit a high price tag like that.
