Grab a base. At least there isn't a B string.

My bass has a B string :P

TheBig3 11-27-2010 09:25 AM

Yeah but you probably play medieval instruments too.

s_k 11-27-2010 09:31 AM

If there's something I want to play, it must be an acoustic guitar.
Worth the while, but I still have to get to it...

Nope, just guitar.

Well aren't you jerks just super fancy. My bass doesn't have Frets. So take your B string and get some ointment.

You should probably take that bass back, if its missing such an important bit.

TheBig3 11-28-2010 09:12 AM

Nah, I bought it that way. It was the only thing a 12 year old with a paper route could afford. Thats how I learned bass. Fretless-ly.

Toao 11-28-2010 10:50 AM

I would like to try a fretless guitar

Astronomer 11-28-2010 02:32 PM

My Ibanez SR500 is definitely the instrument I play the most, gig with, etcetera.

Though it'd be a close tie with my old upright Steinbach piano.

I posted these awhile ago in one of Tore's flute threads. Flute is my number one instrument, and by far my favourite. I also play guitar, bass, and a little bit of piano and clarinet.

:D I love that amp. Oh, and the only reason I have it propped up on coasters like that is because the casters have scratched the **** out of the piece it's sitting on from me moving on and off. I've had that shelf-piece since I was a kid, I even took it with me when I moved out, so I'd like to keep it in the best condition I can, considering

Dr_Rez 12-31-2010 01:10 PM

Wow thats real nice. Those bassmans rock, never seen one with tweed covering though. Looked smaller in the first picture, even so though I guess its smaller since its a combo 4x12.

How many watts?

It's based off the original '59 4x10 combo, before they started producing the head versions.

45 watts, all-tube :D 3 12AX7's, 2 6L6GC's, and an original 5AR4 rectifier tube. 4 10-inch Jenser P10-R speakers :D

It's a real gem. Best part is, I landed it for $750 :D

Dr_Rez 12-31-2010 03:43 PM

I bet that can get loud as ****. My friends Fender 1x12 Hot Rod Deluxe is 35 watts I think and that thing can ****ing blow a house down. The only gripe I would have with that is the same as the Twin Reverb's etc, you will almost never get to experience actual amp overdrive because how often can you play it that damn loud.

Yeah, it's a shame, but I prefer using my modded BD-2 or my Rat anyway.

How are the Dynamics preserved on the Rat Pedal? I have been using Big Muffs and love everything about them except they destroy my ability to palm mute very well. I feel like your playing dynamics are really cut in half when using it.

Not an issue at all for me. I had a Russian Big Muff, and that thing destroyed my tone :banghead:

I haven't had a whole lot of trouble with the Rat. Best example I can give of a Rat with a tweed tube amp is Xan McCurdy in Cake, or in his work with The Loved Ones:

I confess, I own the equipment I own, because at one point I was pursuing Xan's tone in his work with Cake, and even while I've nailed it, I've also developed my own sound that I use instead :D so it all worked out in both ways :D

Dr_Rez 12-31-2010 04:34 PM

Wow thats a rat? Sounds like just a Tube Screamer or something.

Nah, man, that's all Rat. Xan can do some other-worldly **** with his guitar :D

Awesome thing about him, is he's also the most humble guy you'll ever meet :D

My #1 instrument is my violin, because this is the instrument I've played the longest and most skillfully and it is the only instrument I currently play in public. I've posted a picture of myself with my violin before, but below is a photo of the two of us that I like even better.

Until around 1 month ago, the instrument I really *loved* playing the most for myself and by myself was my electric guitar.

However, my newest musical confession is that my heart has been stolen away by MY NEW CELLO!!!!!!!!!! THE BEST INSTRUMENT IN THE WORLD!

I used to think I was a violin player. Then I thought the electric guitar was my favorite instrument and captured the essence of who I am the best. Now I realize I am really most fundamentally a cello player. I had no idea, until I finally got one.

I'm still just learning to play the cello, but I love everything about the instrument even though we've only been together a little over a month.

I love how a cello cradles up against you and vibrates when you play it. I love how you can feel the vibrations going into your sternum, against which the cello rests. I love how you can feel the cello vibrating against your knees as well, as you hold the cello gently between them so that when you move, the cello moves with you. I love the deep, warm notes you draw out of it. Playing the cello is like giving someone you love a warm embrace. You can feel the instrument responding physically...and not just through the sound it produces. The cello is just a delight to play. Can you tell that I like my cello? :D

My poor violin is now playing second fiddle, but here it is:

What a beautiful violin! I just love instruments that look like they've been played well for many years. The dress is nice too :)

Dotoar 01-03-2011 01:03 PM

Guitar is my main instrument and my main guitar would be this one:

http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/7379/jormy.jpg

(You can glimpse the flute as well, resting on the notestand, but it's not much to see after all)

And this would be my second favourite one:

And here's my by far coolest instrument. A 1978 Yamaha CS5 analogue synthesizer:

I'm no Ian Anderson for sure, but I think I'm getting a decent use of it.

You decide.
