There are a lot who have shaped my musical world through teaching or playing. Thus far, I would say these people:
Bill V* Buddy Rich David G* Skip V* Michael Jackson Michael for his stage presence and level of performance, and also Buddy for this reason. * means last name withheld because I know them personally and they aren't celebrities, but teachers of music near where I live. I want to respect their privacy. |
Slash and Eric Clapton were the two that got me into playing guitar, I started playing acoustic guitar in 1995/6 ish. Then in 1999 I got an electric and thats when Slash comes into it. I loved his style and his technique. About a year or 2 later I discovered Billy Duffy from The Cult.
I can't remember when I started playing Metal but my 2 main influences there are Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth and Elias Viljanen of Sonata Arctica. |
Adam Jones, Jerry Cantrel, SRV, Dime, Brian May, Travis Meeks, Don Ross, Kurt Cobain...

I play bass so these guys changed my life. :)
- Cliff Burton - James Jamerson - Victor Wooten - Jaco Pastorius - Jason Newsted - Steve Harris |
Guitar.
Kirk Hammet of Metallica. Daron Malakian of System Of A Down. Oli Herbert of All That Remains. |
have to say it's Led Zep for the respective instruments at the mo'
|
Angus Young was the one who got me into playing guitar. After that i've had really many influences: Joe Satriani, Steve Clark and Phil Collen in Def Leppard, James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet in Metallica and many others. I'm really influenced by all the music I listen to, which is quite a bit.
The ones who got me into acoustic guitar were Andy McKee and Miyavi. I got into playing the keyboard by power metal and Van Halen's "Jump" |
Red hot chili peppers earlier funk stuff is a major influence in my playing, equally is iron maiden and green day. I find that the mayhem slap and pop mixes well with the driving guitar and bass of maiden or the varying bass in green day. Just my preference! Quite keen on big 4 of thrash style work at the moment
