Default Layered Super-song project

Ok, I don't know if there's a term for this or not, but it's something that I wanted to try to do back when I was trying to support music projects through myspace, and wanted to have fun. I came up with this idea to do a 10 minute keyboard improv(it could be shorter) utilizing midi, vst, and ****ing around with effects(I got a weird ****ing piece). My idea was that I'd record it, write it, and send it to different people to layer over it.

I tanked... badly. Sent it to one guy, and he basically just sat on it(Which is annoying since his medium was randomly generated noise. You'd think it wouldn't have took him too long). However, I was wondering if I could try it again here.

Now, I don't want to use this as an advertising medium. I've pretty much kept my music projects separate from this site, and I have no reason to change that. However, I was wondering, if I were to make a lengthy improv keyboard bit, would anybody be willing to layer things onto it and see... Good or bad... what comes of it?

Sounds pretty much like a collaboration to me, which I believe we have/had several things going for that. But you might be able to make some sort of game out of it. Otherwise it's likely to fall through, because that weak link you speak of exists in every group of "I'm down"'s. Especially for internet collabs, but more importantly, the interest factor usually only exists between a few folks. Not to mention the probability that half the folks you try to net in won't even have a clue what MIDI even is, or have ever used anything except Microsoft Sound Recorder.

P.S...
If you actually want to show people your music, you can. It's obvious you aren't here to use the forums for promotions or anything.

Freebase hit the nail on the head. But I really is something I'd love to do with I weren't so busy with crap right now. Might be able to contribute soon.

I'll go ahead, and upload it later today. Essentially, I think preserve every phase. As for what anyone wants to put on it, really doesn't matter. The crazier it gets, the better.

Super Song Layer Project: Alpha 1 by Layering Project Public on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Eh, just done with the piano thingy in my keyboard. It's very sloppy, but it's a one take, and eh...

I don't want to discourage anybody. Even people who just want to play around with it. You can add effects, sing over it, rearrange it, play over it, screech over it, reverse it. I don't honestly care. The only real rule is that you must modify the one before, not skip to one before that.

Have fun with it.

EDIT: download by clicking on the arrow, to upload PM me, and I'll send you the password for this account.

It's a little bit hard to play on. I can't feel the pulse of the track.

Feel free to crop pieces out, and rearrange.
