Kevorkian Logic 01-30-2007 04:33 PM

go to an estate sale to buy one, you can get things like pianos for cheap.

Loser 01-30-2007 04:34 PM

Aren't they most likely crappy though?

skindredluver 01-30-2007 04:49 PM

Are they like the good ones good people play on though?

yea, they are the good ones. Estate sales are often people who have lived waaaaaay to extravagantly and can't afford it, so their stuff gets repossed and sold. Or old people who have died with out heirs (that's when crappiness could be an issue).

swim 01-30-2007 06:06 PM

Buy a shite keyboard before you buy a shite piano.

I play a lot of things but nothing above a grade 4 level so, eh.

skindredluver 01-30-2007 06:11 PM

Well I just really want one of those big ones there fun to play with and good for anything practiclly

Kevorkian Logic 01-31-2007 04:39 PM

swim has practical advice though, you might want to take it.

Anyone who doesn't know what a Fender Strat is shouldn't be posting in this thread, so you don't really need to clarify.

don't use the Suzuki method.
Any new person playing in my school's orchestra who learned Suzuki method is terrible.
It doesn't teach the fundamentals that are really needed to play the instrument.

Sorry, I love it! My favorite musicians are Les Claypool, DD Verni, Jason Newstead, Cliff Burton (Moment of silence please...), Duffy McKagan, Sean Yseult (White Zombie) and Geddy Lee.

I have a 1995 Ibanez EX series 4 string Fretless. Not the most expensive bass out there, but it sounds great!

~SexyBeast~ 02-28-2007 05:00 PM

Have you ever thought about joining a band?

I've had a couple of garage bands over the years. Nothing ever more than having fun. Like I said, I'm not that good. Just have fun with it.

Playing bass isn't hard at all. Being good at it is a whole different deal.

that's always good, i used to take piano lessons, but then i quit (same thing that happened w/the classical guitar) so now i have a guitar and keyboard virtually collecting dust in my house. I fiddle around with those from time to time, but i mostly play the flute, oboe, and baritone sax.

ShoLeigh84 03-09-2007 05:54 AM

I'm a vocalist, I like doing the whole soft singing over heavy riffs thing. But I'm defo not one of those girls that can scream good :(
I also play guitar, I'm pretty good at finger picking but not so great at awesome solos (my husband is amazing on the guitar, another Zakk in the making!)
Between us we've got:
Ibanez - RG series (my baby!)
Stagg Flying V
Vintage SG
2 Fender Squier Strats
Merlin Xplorer

We also have a cruddy bass and a nice acoustic. Next we really want an American Strat and a Dean Razorback. :yeah:
I can also play keyboard a bit, but I haven't done that for a while...

Spikey 03-09-2007 08:04 AM

Drums, guitar, bass and piano but I'd say I need more work on the piano lol.

fitzrulz 03-12-2007 01:13 PM

Bass nearly a year. And I sing

littleknowitall 03-14-2007 12:47 PM

I've finally invested in a keyboard, :) i know all the basic theory behind it already but i am going to have to get used to actually playing it...should be fun.

bloodorflies 03-14-2007 12:53 PM

cheers man, it's ****ing annoying to try and get around. It's like i know where everything is but i cant do it, it'd be like me trying to play guitar if someone chopped off all my fingers.

SEF 03-19-2007 11:54 PM

I play the guitar but i suck with tempo.

littleknowitall 03-20-2007 04:44 AM

The piano is not annoying! It's the most amazing instrument ever. EVER. You can SEE where all of the different pitches are. You can SEE THEM. The high notes on your right, the low notes on your left. If you want to go higher you go to the right, if you want to make a low noise you go to the left. When you want it to be quiet you touch it gently, when you want to be loud you hit it hard. There is nothing difficult about the piano! Well, apart from 'Liszt' and 'Rachmaninov'.

But here's a tip. Don't learn any contemporary piano. Learn jazz and classical because it's much better. The piano in modern music is comparitively bland... made for the compressed recording generation.
