Scored a univox hi flyer for 100 bucks

I found a super cool univox (technically raven here in canada) for 100 bucks. The thing has some rad p90 pick ups and looks awesome. I think kurt cobain used them or something at one point. I think Eastwood makes replicas of them nowadays. Unfortunately im a lefty but I just restrung the thing. It rattles as the nut wasn't changed or anything but it actually stays in tune which is quite surprising. I wonder if its worth anything I can't really find many on ebay or anything other than univox bass guitars.

I have a huge affinity for its sound. I looove the natural mid ranged warble it has. Im gonna fix the nut for lefty and lucky it has a bridge that is the same on every string. The thing was so cheap they never bothered making different notches for each little spacer they just kinda made one that fit them all. The intonation is adjustable too. Its kind of like a tunomatic but uses springs. The electronics are a little screwy. The "rocker" switch doesn't really work too well and the only position that consistently works is when both pick ups are on. The tuners are replaced but very very good I was really surprised not really sure what brand they are but their better than on my eastwood classic 6...

Yaaay so I manage to fix the pick ups issue. The rocker switches connect two angled prongs angled into each other. The problem was that both prongs that turned the pick ups on were always touching by default. So I took a pin and just pushed them back and forth until they were separated. Now the pick up selector works! I also fixed the finicky input. I pretty much just filed down the oxidized plate of metal where the instrument cord makes contact. I think I may put some GFS p90s in it during Christmas.

Interesting how much you can fix in a guitar with basically no knowledge. Its pretty simple surprisingly.
