Any Luthiers?
Anyone here a luthier? I'm looking to get some pointers from someone who knows the art.
Best woods? Equipment? Etc. |
i can remove and replace fretwires, replace a warped neck on a bolt-on, sanding the neck fretside, adjust intonation and fix bad tuning pegs and bad electronics (or custom my own)
that's about my knowledge of luthiery i dunno how to make one |
I'm not particularly hands on, but I don't think it'd be a stretch to say I'm probably the most informed on guitar design, out of the people on musicbanter.
What styles of music, what must-have features are you looking for? |

As far as normal woods mahogany is typically more midrangey (hence the use in humbucker gibsons) while alder/poplar/ash are much brighter (hence the use in more single coil fender style guitars. In my opinion the biggest gauge on how the guitar will sound in the scale length. Their are so many favtors though its hard to say, while pickups are a big one the pots make one hell of a difference. The impudence of your volume and tone knobs and the style of taper will be huge in what sounds they let through to the amp. What you should do is read about guitar setups. |
