Tips for increasing volume in singing

I have quite a deep singing voice; probably a bass-low baritone. People say they think my voice sounds good, but I always feel I need to be louder. Do you guys have any tips to help with having a louder, more projected voice? Advice is greatly appreciated as I'm forming a band with myself as the main vocalist, so some info would be handy.

Join a choir :P The more you sing, the more you learn about your voice. Unfortunately what you're asking is quite difficult (for me, anyway) to explain in words, and being around a group of other singers gives you a great opportunity to ask them.

In my experience, the trick to increasing volume without losing the integrity of your voice is to "open" your throat. it's quite had to explain, but essentially you are trying to increase the area of the throat that you're singing through. If you're a baritone, a lot of the tone of your voice would be lost if you just try and "sing louder", it's all about getting that bassy rumble and creating space in your throat and mouth when you sing!
