Drums

I've had my Drum Kit for a while now, a good few years. At first I wasn't too bothered about how it sounded. Recently I had an injury to my knee and i've been unable to play, but now I would like to pick it back up. Does anyone know how to tune drums to a certain type of sound?
I mainly play quite heavy, so I'd like them to sound quite meaty like Emmure or Chelsea grin..
Anyone help me out with this please? :)

Tuning your drum should be obvious. If not, youtube it, there are tons of tutorials out there.

I think the real question is, what type of kit do you have? The brand and actual quality of the various pieces is going to seriously affect what kind of sounds you'll be making.

Well it's just a starter kit, but a friend of mine has had a little play around with it and now im liking how it sounds. Very tight and meaty, might need to get myself a new snare drum though. It's just not right for me...
If you know any decent pedals that aren't too expensive, i'd like some help with that though. I've bent mine so much.. :(

Martin Ranscombe is someone well worth checking out to improve your tuning skills - he did a masterclass at Drumtech a while back - really knows his stuff!

what do you mean by not "too expensive" as far as pedals go?

and what do you mean by bent? did you bend the mallet shaft? armature? hangar shaft?pedalboard?

mhmmmmmm Tight and Meaty. Just how I like em.

But seriously you tune it to what you think sounds best. It is not like a guitar or something where you are either at the correct frequency or not.

Well, if you want something that sounds right, you tune the drums to a frequency that works with the shells and their dimensions. There is a correct frequency, which is why correctly-tuned drums resonate a lot longer and cleaner, and don't sound like boxes or weird multi-toned, off-axis craziness. But whether the person in question enjoys whatever is, I guess, the point, depending on the circumstances.

Tuning them to what sounds best to them is a completely subjective item, but is definitely valid if they're just playing drums to hear themselves play.
