Default Cups as a percussion?

What d'you guys think of the whole 'cups' beat that's been populating YouTube all of a sudden? I know they rised in popularity with Pitch Perfect so... is it just a new fad or simply an overused thing?

I've been playing my beer cans for years. Seriously. As far as cups go, apparently the popularity spiked a bit riding on the waves of the movie, but it'll probably dwindle back down in time. Probably by the time I finish this post.

Wouldn't have thought you'd get much more than a dull thunk.
