Stratocaster Apreciation Thread

Hey, there are not may threads in this section so I thought I would add one that is close to my heart. Anybody else here got a passion for these amazing guitars?

I myself have run £650 into debt trying to buy two of these babies. I have 6 guitars (2 strats) and my problem is I like to keep all my guitars...

I have a 1991 Standard American with maple neck and black body and a beautiful 1989 American Strat Ultra, in 3-tone sunbusrt... beautiful!

Anybody else?

Fenixpunk 06-06-2005 02:29 PM

I used to think strats were the best untill i got my Paul Reed Smith, no other guitar has hooked me in like the one I have now. I tore apart my old Strat, and completely rebuilt it, custom painted it, all new hardware, then gave it to my 16 yr old brother in-law for his bday, he flipped out. It turned out really nice. Good guitars though. My first was a strat.

SATCHMO 06-06-2005 02:31 PM

I'm a Telecaster fiend. Does that count?

eviljoker7075 06-06-2005 02:31 PM

Lucky! I had to work my way up from a crappy old Westfield, still got it though!! It has about a billion raised frets but I love the body haha!

Emo Ophey 06-07-2005 06:47 PM

Lately I've fallen in love with the sound, but don't you think it looks kinda boring? I mean everyone has one, so hey...

Trauma 06-07-2005 08:03 PM

I want a strat, all I have is a cheap-ass Squier.
They don't need any appreciation though!
They get plenty enough.

David Frost 06-07-2005 09:47 PM

we recorded our full length with a strat with an emg rear active pickup... so nice.

eviljoker7075 06-08-2005 04:27 AM

mmmm, on the Ultra I've got 4 lace sensor pickups (the bridge is a humbucker) that guitar gives sooo many sounds it's unbelievable! Honestly, it's incredible coz you can split the humbucker three ways aswell, there is everything there!

pastor of muppets 06-08-2005 04:46 AM

i tried out mex and usa strats and a couple of prs's... for the price i think the prs SE series is phenomenal... personally... although i would like a usa strat :)

eviljoker7075 06-08-2005 05:15 AM

who wouldn't? I mean seriously!

Guitarmandan 06-15-2005 09:41 AM

ive got a strat which i luv and a les paul which i also luv. strats r way better without distortion but the les paul kicks a strats ass as soon as u put it through a marshall and turn the distortion on

Fenixpunk 06-15-2005 09:51 AM

my problem with les pauls are the weight and balance. Maybe it was the model i played (80 something edition). I prefer my PRS over any guitar ive played in the past (Ibanez, Strat, Les Paul, Kramer, BC Rich)

pastor of muppets 06-21-2005 06:25 AM

PRS's are awesome and so light... im getting mine soon

phoenixflames 07-03-2005 08:19 AM

Strats are seemingly a "standard" guitar. They must be at least somewhat good if so many people use them, but to me, they are just way to plain and boring. To each his own I guess.

EddyEdwards 07-08-2005 08:45 AM

Who ever was saying they wanted to play a US Strat as opposed to a Mexican strat, let me tell you right here and now - there is no difference! The materials and hardware is the EXACT same, even the setup will be. The difference in price is because of labour costs, a mexican will work harder for less money then an american.

pastor of muppets 07-10-2005 02:11 AM

man i tried both mexican and american and the mexican, for me, just didnt compare...

EddyEdwards 07-10-2005 06:27 AM

You didn't compare them or they contrast to each other? They are both the exact same... Just one is put together in Mexico.

pastor of muppets 07-10-2005 07:52 AM

i just found that when i played the mex, it was all.... bleh :) the american just had a much better feel to it, for me... i realise that others will have different views.....

pastor of muppets 07-10-2005 11:19 PM

i havent owned them but ive tried them extensively in shops, multiple times and different ones so yeah........

pastor of muppets 07-13-2005 12:15 AM

EddyEdwards 07-15-2005 07:04 AM

Well I dunno and the numbers and stuff and Im guessing you guys are just saying that to sound like music gods but then I know every edition of NVidia and ATI video cards.

Wow thanks for saying something here about the American and Mexican Strats because.... ALLEDGEDLY IVE PLAYED BOTH! They were both the exact ****en same and the Mex was half the price. So what the ****?

Im a month away from buying a Mex Fat strat, now I hear this, Im a little upset... Ill look into it further. I do love that humbucker at the bridge, and a maple neck.

Gibson ES335 is just like saying Fender Telecaster or zGibson Les Paul, Its the name of that particular model of guitar. The ES335 is probably the most famous and the most valuable hollowbody that Gibson ever produced.

_The_Repeats_ 07-15-2005 03:30 PM

Yup. And I want it. I don't care how 'mainstream' it is or whatever. Look how pretty...

SATCHMO 07-15-2005 03:33 PM

Oh I'm not tryin' to snub it cuz' its mainstream. Its one of the greatest guitars ever built. I'd love one too, I just dont have 4 grand lyin' around.

_The_Repeats_ 07-15-2005 04:08 PM

*Puppy dog eyes* Want to buy it for me though? Yeah...better. Hehe

Ah ok cool, so thats what to call it, Ive seen some copys of it, Greg Bennet or something and thought it would make an nice jazz backup. Quality wasnt so good though....

pastor of muppets 07-17-2005 01:28 AM

the epi would probably be the best alternative...

tom_morellofan08 08-14-2005 11:39 AM

I love my Strat. American, 1996: 50th ann. of Fender ,Vintage white, one-piece maple neck. You can't beat the bell-like ringing and clarity of Fender single coils.
I think a dynacomp should come with every Strat sold. For Gilmour/Knoffler tone. A Strat really sings with a compressor.
