Man, those things are wild. Too many strings for me! I have short fingers that would never be able to get past sting 4, so I'll just stick with a 4 string.

ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THOSE FUCKING FRETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*breathes deeply to stop hyperventilating* theres a dean twelve string in my local music store but the strings are in groups of three which sucks... check it out at music123...

The frets are "fanned". Its necessary because of the enormouse range in string gauge of the instrument. You may have noticed that bass necks have a much longer scale than guitar necks and that the space between frets is much wider this is because of the signifigantly larger gauge of bass strings. By fanning the frets each string on the instrument can play with proper intonation at the appropriate string tension.
