little help with a decision.

ok..i didnt know where to put this so i figured id put it here.

im currently in the market for a new guitar. right now im still playing the squier fat strat that i started with 4 years ago. its a POS. nuff said.

so i went to guitar trader a few days ago and i found a schecter that i really liked. it plays well and the sound is better than all the other guitars i played.

if anyone could check it out, and tell me what you think that would help me a lot with my decision. because as it is i will have to work all summer to get it.check it out.

SATCHMO 06-22-2005 01:26 PM

I really like schecter guitars, but Iv'e never seen this guitar before. This particular model is not my style (its kinda' modeled after a Fender Jaguar), but that's just my tastes. Be aware that that the oldschool trem bridge that's featured on this guitar can be a pain in the a$$ when it comes to string adjustments and doesn't offer a lot of options in that deptartment. Its hard to give advice not knowing your musical interests and particular instrument preferences.Feel keep looking and trying out guitars if you have the whole summer to make a decision what can it hurt to shop around? Feel free to ask questions on here about any other guitars you run into, or even PM me. I'm moving this thread to "talk instruments", BTW.

yeah...thanks....

i knew i didnt put it in the right forum.

and yes, i am planning on checking out other guitars. that was only my first trip where i was seriously looking. and that was the guitar i liked the most. it had exceptional playability. ill keep posting links to other guitars i find so i can get your opinion.

my band is sort of a mix between atreyu/a7x style, and rise against style. i try to get as much treble as i can out of my amp and the guitar that im playing has humbuckers so i dont get enough of it. the duncan designed pickups on that one get an awsome high end and its got really bright sound.

i think it would fit the style of music great but if you have suggestions to any other guitars that would sound better, im wide open for suggestions.

What's your budget?

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-22-2005 03:27 PM

up to about 700 i think, depending on how much work i get. and how much i get for my birthday, witch is in 6 days.

SATCHMO 06-22-2005 03:29 PM

Have you played a fender telecaster yet?

Fenixpunk 06-22-2005 03:29 PM

you should be able to find a nice guitar for 700, id shop around though, thats alot of cash to dish out on the first one you see.

as for satchmo's question, i have checked out a tele. the lead guitarist in my band has one. is pretty nice. i suppose i could check out a few at the shop next time i go. i think im makin another trip over this weekend if not sooner.

SATCHMO 06-22-2005 03:42 PM

I personally love tele's. They're great guitars that work well for a lot of different musical styles.Specifically, I recommend you check one out because they're known for being very "trebley" guitars and they seem to be very popular lately in the style of music that you say you're into. Not saying you should follow a trend, but if other like-minded musicians use them its worth giving a look.

P.S.. if your birthday is on the 28th then its the same as mine.

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 06-22-2005 03:59 PM

oh no.....my mistake...its in 5 days. the 27th.

ill definately check out a tele. they seem pretty nice. i liked the one my friend has. so thatll be the first thing i check out when i go there next time.

Ibanez guitars have good sustain and treble. You might want to give a few of their models a look see. Whatever you decide, just make sure you play it and like its action, sound, etc. (I'm sure you already know that). If you can get to a store like Guitar Center, you can probably even plug each guitar into an amp like yours and hear what it will sound like in your setup, rather than just some generic amp. Hope you find something you like.
