Question about pots

Well, I am thinking of doing a few more upgrades to my Gibson Melody Maker.

The configuration on it is 1 humbucker in the bridge (obviously) and 1 volume knob. Pretty straight forward set up.

I was thinking of upgrading the volume pot, as it seems a little off, I fooled around with it one day and it got a little loose, so instead of just fixing it, I think I should get a new one.

I was thinking, since it has no tone knob, I would use a concentric pot, I am thinking 500k.

Wondering if anyone has much experience here on this.

I think the stock pot is a 300k.

I hear some people say they think that a 500k in a bridge may result in a more harsh tone, more treble. But I find the highs on the guitar can sometimes be a little lacking when playing in clean on my amp.

What is the best idea here? what should I try? any suggestions on what to go with brand wise?

Would also like to maybe do a push/pull with the pot. Though I do not know if this even exists, or whatnot.

Hopefully this all makes sense to someone.

Though I figure even if 500k is on the treble side more, and makes it brighter and more harsh sounding, at least with the concentric as a tone control, could be able to roll it back a bit to cut down on this. But I know nothing of the matter to know if this is the case or not.

I mean, the other obvious part is just get the luthier here I know to put in a seperate knob just for tone. Sure he could install one no problem.

SO that is the second part of question. Is it worth it to go concentric and save having to drill into the cavity? or just get a tone knob added to it?
