How Important Is a Comp Pedal?

I've had some nice ones including the renowned Keeley. I currently have a Barber Tone Press, which I like much more than the Keeley. I love the concept, but I feel my tone is better without. I did a test last week. My tone was better with it off.

There are many country players or heavy distortion players that need comp. I'm not that

I find it's good for soloing if you're having issues with additional noise between notes. It's not something I'd have on during a whole song but it can be useful in the moment. That being said, I didn't ever find any use for mine with the music I play so I sold it soon thereafter.

Back a few years ago in the band, I used to leave it on all the time, It didn't change much. Might be a Barber thing

Hopefully not too important. I have never owned one.
