I hadn't seen one of these until today. It looks like it combines violin, guitar, and piano, and played as such. Swedish design, many moving parts, and probably a steep learning curve. I like it, and would love to own one.

I had to read through the article a bit to see how the smaller strings work. The sympathetic resonances from them probably don't come through as well on video as they would in person. I'd love to get my hands on one of these. The holding position actually seems more natural than the violin, too. When I was learning violin, one of the things I always had a hard time with was getting the chin hold just right.

I heard someone play one of these on the roof of the Museum of Jurassic Technology. At first I thought it was a hurdy gurdy, but then I saw the bow. Nutty instrument; a violin that removes the player's responsibility of intonation.
