Synths and Other Fun Things
 

Hey everyone quick question. I have an MPC Renascence and a Yamaha 61 key MIDI keyboard. I mostly do sample based hip hop but I found the Arturia MicroBrute. Now I want a synth but I don't really just have $350 to shell out and go buy that. So what I'm asking is that if anyone has a MicroBrute: Do you like it? How Much did you pay(did you find it cheaper)? Would you recommend it? and finally. If I bought it would it a waste of money?

Which sound are you trying to achieve?

Anything I've played from Roland has always been awesome. Not too sure on the price ranges though.

I bought my MiniBrute, the MicroBrute's big brother, for $350. It's a beast. However, you gotta know what you're getting into: both the Mini and the Micro are analog mono synths. They have MIDI functionality, but they're really meant to be played on the actual hardware. It's nice if you don't like surfing through menus, as you can see/hear what every little adjustment you make does. You can't "save" any "presets," though. In the internet age, the design is a bit of a rarity. (And the sub oscillator is wonderful!) You might want to look at a digital poly synth. Me, I chose the Mini because I hate EDM and would rather use a synthesizer for something like 5:07 in this song:

(That's a Minimoog, but a mono synth nonetheless.)
