The prominent instrument in the beginning of that Muse song is 6 string electric guitar, and from the sound of it, most likely a Gretsch guitar with a Bigsby tremolo system. There is a bass line in the back ground also, but you probably won't notice it until the guitar stops after that first tremolo shake. Listen for the bass from 0:16 to 0:18, right before the vocals come in, then you'll get an idea of how the two instruments sound.

Here's a pretty good example. It starts out with guitar, then the bass joins in on the second time through the riff.

First go round of the riff is just guitar. Bass joins in after that.

Im gonna try to explain this in a simple way, think of the bass as the pulse of every song. it's a little hard to spot at first but just look for the deepest sound carrying the melody cause that's usually the bass.

It's easy to spot the bass in this song cause the song starts with it, i had the same problem when i first started listening to rock music but in my case was that i couldn't spot the sound of the kickdrum in songs.

All music is layered so you have to train your ears to start recognising each layer but that comes with time so don't worry, one day you'll be able to make out the bass from the guitar.

Thank you so much kind people.
I've been listening to rock for more than 6 years lol
in the songs you guys have posted I could easily recognize it and I know it's different from guitar but how could I know it's bass? what if it's a different guitar tune?
