Default Tuba players. Any out there? Sousaphone?

Hey, I'm new to this forum and thought I might introduce my self.

I'm Sam and I'm a high school senior that plays the Sousaphone. I play the tuba for many different bands, including jazz band, marching band, and Show band. If you don't know what show band is, it's basically a cover band for pop/rock/hip-hop songs. If you wondering what a tuba player is doing in a pop/rock/hip-hop band i'll tell you; I'm playing the bass parts because I could outplay all the bass guitarist at my high school. I've been doing all of that for four years know.

I also play the trumpet, trombone, baritone, and drum set.

Any other low brass players out there?

I'm not a tuba player, but I am a music major and part of my program was to learn some other instruments. I did tuba for part of my brass methods class and I learned it pretty well. I got bored with the parts though - I am a flute player so you can see why . A good friend of mine is a tuba player and she is really good at it.

You're lucky to do marching band! They are rare in universities and non existant in high school here, unfortunately.

I am a freshman in college. I don't play tuba anymore, but I played for 7 years throughout middle school and in high school! I was part of a very prestigious Texas 5A high school band so it was a great experience for me. I still have my mouthpieces so I could probably pick up playing again if I wanted to.

Hey guys! Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm glad to see that there are others out there with tuba experience.

You're right, In four years at my high school I am still the newest tuba player, and the only one. It's sad because know body wants to do it. At leastI'm graduating soon, I hope to major in music (Jazz concentration) at LSU.

I don‘t play the tuba but I really want to learn how to play it. It is kinda undestimated (like most bass instruments), but I truly believe that without it the orchestra would lose its touch.

I used to play trombone, but I have switched to tuba. I have been playing for awhile now. I see that you are a good tuba player. I am also in jazz band as well as concert band and wind ensemble.
