I only rap! Lol. Jk. I don't do vocals.

Are you in a band with someone who raps?

So I just finished working on riffs for a self produced album I'm going to work on. The problem is that I don't like the tone I'm working with.

My amp is a Fender Mustang v.2. My pedals are Jerry Cantrell Wah, Fab Metal, and G1on.

I'm looking for a stoner rock/metal tone.

Help would be appreciated.

  • Use the neck pick-up.
  • Turn the tone knobs up to 10, and adjust the tone you want with your volume to make it as mellow or bright as you like.
  • It's better to have a single pedal that does one thing well then maybe a processor that bunch of things so-so. What that single pedal is is up to you.
    • Think about a Boss DN-2 Dyna Drive, they have a re-sell value that hovers around 35 to 50 bucks.

Just a few questions.

Which pick-up is considered to be the kneck pick-up? Are you saying put the tone controls to 10 than adjust accordingly or leave them at ten and adjust the volume control accordingly?

Thanks. I'll look into that pedal.

The one that's closest to the fretboard is the neck pickup.

The neck pick-up is near the neck. The bridge pick-up is near the bridge. The middle pick-up is in between the neck and bridge pick-ups.

You can find the sweet spot for your tone two ways. Either by having the volume at 10, and adjust the tone knob. Or by having the tone at 10 and adjust your volume. Strange as it might sound but once you back away from the 10 on your volume, you start to bleed off the higher frequencies, (it basically acts like a tone knob). Not having the volume on 10 leaves some head-room too. Say if you are jamming with a band and a volume war breaks out, you can turn up the volume using your vol. knob on your guitar.

Ok. Thanks for that. I'll give this a try. Thank you. Does the volume knobs need to be at ten on the amp too?

Thanks to you as well frown.
