A snare question

Is the snare supossed to go on the right, or the left side?

SATCHMO 08-02-2005 10:19 PM

The center usually. Right between your legs, which in the case of most right-handed drummers would be slightly to the left

Ensemble 08-02-2005 10:29 PM

Oh, darn. I've got mine smack on the full right. And then I see countless drummers with their snares on the left. I think the snare in the middle is logicless. I guess.
Now what am I going to do?

SATCHMO 08-02-2005 10:48 PM

Well you need one foot to be on the hi-hat pedal and one foot on the kick drum pedal so you would really need to have it in the middle.

Ensemble 08-02-2005 10:52 PM

I do just fine without it in the middle. So, maybe it doesn't need to be in the middle.

SATCHMO 08-02-2005 10:54 PM

It would seem you have a very unorthodox way of playing.

Ensemble 08-02-2005 11:00 PM

Well, my hi-hat sounds like dirt so I don't use the pedal, I just tap it with a drumstick.
(I'm too lazy to find the dictionary to look up 'unorthodox'.)

Well, are you left handed or right handed?

soundgardener, your original post that you deleted was right on the money, why did you delete it?

SATCHMO 08-03-2005 03:35 PM

Soundgardener deletes75% of his posts. Definitely something Iv'e noticed since being a mod, but yeah, it was right on the money, as you said.
