Default Please help! Just got a midi keyboard and have no idea what I'm doing.

I just got a midi keyboard for Christmas (the Akai MPK mini mk11) and I'm completely lost. It came with some software, but I can't get it to make any sounds inside the software. I'm looking to start making trap/hip-hop beats with this keyboard, but do not know how to. I'd like to start making my own beats to rap over instead of downloading royalty-free ones off of youtube and recording over them in Audacity, lol.

Are there any programs I should download? How do I get it to make sounds? Can someone give me a guide on how to start using one of these things? I'm new to this and completely lost. I'm excited to learn!

Thanks,

Coleman.

It looks like it's got a USB Type B plug that should plug straight into your PC through a USB port. Fire up Audacity and make sure your input settings are set for "Windows DirectSound" under Preferences>Device>Interface. You should be able to hear what you record.

Did you get a cd with it? Or any type of software? Manual?
