Bass guitar for beginners

Hi there, I’m want to start learning bass guitar but was wondering if there are any recommendation for bass guitars for beginners? Hopefully something not too pricy but I’m not really sure price range either. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Thanks

A Squier Jaguar or Jazzmaster would be a great choice. Both around $400 new but you can probably find used for about half of that.

Squire Affinity Jazz basses are good if you're looking for something with versatile tone capability for cheap

For precision styles basses look for something in the realms of a Yamaha BB234

Vintage V74s are good if you need a cheap fretless option with a body that makes you feel like Jaco Pastorius (but I doubt you'd want a fretless as a beginner)

Just a recommendation though, cant hurt to go to a music store that stocks basses and try some out for yourself

You can find Peavey Milestone II's all day for $100 and they are excellent basses, the one I have sounds better then my 76 Fender.
Then get a Bass scale booklet and learn your scales.
I have been playing for 40+ years, make yourself practice 6 hours a week.
1 hour a day is best, now if I don't have a gig for friday or saturday night I practice like I was at a gig.
If you practice regular you will become good within a year. The 1st year is the roughest.

I had the use of an semi acoustic bass when I first started playing.

If you look hard you might find a used Yamaha or Ibanez bass in that range, but anything that sells for $100 new is going to be trash.
