selling my 8 string in favor of a baritone?

Getting an 8 string was fun and interesting, and I learned some small things about scale patterns on it, but It's not really comfortable.

I like using the lower strings for some stoner kind of power chord stuff though. When jamming some lead stuff I tend to play higher notes, and for chords I can't really use the 8 string anyways. So I never play the high and low strings at the same time. I really just have the 8 string to play the lower 3 strings

So I was thinking of selling the 8 string and getting a baritone guitar instead. My questions are:
- can I put thicker strings on the baritone and tune down to F#?
- does it make any difference, am I just not used to the wider 8 string neck yet?

thanks a lot. The guitars in question are a "Schecter Omen 8" and a "Chapman Guitars ML1 Mod Baritone"

I think it's possible to do. The string set would be same as a baritone set discarding the highest string then adding a F#. I found a site that calculates string gauge and I looked up a set of Ernie Ball baritone strings. I plugged in the numbers and I figure you could use something around .85 for the F#1. So with that knowledge I search for a .85 set and they make them for 8 strings. Maybe get an 8 string pack and set aside the two high strings? Probably the only alteration is that the slots on the nut would need to be widen to accommodate thicker strings, but it should work.

nice, thanks.

I'm currently trying to sell it. Looking forward to having it lying around in my room for months.
