...There IS a big difference between cheap and out of place, they're two completely different meanings. I've seen it live and stripped down with just him and a piano, sure it's cool but I wouldn't say it was better.

I should have been more specific.

He sounds like the singer from Depeche Mode with the misconception that he can actually sing.

I guess you could call him innovative, I can't think of many other artists that push awful singing to such incredible extremes.

So basically baritone = bad and all the same to you?

Bet you'd like him if he stuffed his music full of guitar solos and sung falsetto.

What have you heard? His debut? The vocals are pretty mediocre there, but on his later albums they're nothing short of incredible.
@Ethan: Cheap is just something that's there for the sake of being there, out of place means they don't fit which sort of encompasses cheap. Big diff, eh?

Cheap is about the quality of something, not it being there for the sake of being there. You need to open a dictionary once in awhile.

ProggyMan 05-24-2008 10:17 PM

Well yah, but it's a specific criticism of quality, something being fake, or flashy.

sleepy jack 05-24-2008 10:21 PM

It won't kill you to admit you completely misused a word. It has nothing to do with flashy or fake just of low quality.

ProggyMan 05-24-2008 10:23 PM

We should really have a grammar section of the lounge. I don't think I misused it, maybe by dictionary definition (Never read it) but not by it's common use.
