Hip Hop Poll: Round 1, Poll R

Tribe called Quest is getting my vote this time around.

Q-tip and Busta Rhymes. Can't go wrong with those two.

Kirby 02-07-2011 06:53 PM

A Tribe Called Quest but it hurts to not vote for Big L or 9th Wonder.

FaSho 02-07-2011 07:00 PM

Give it to em L

James 02-08-2011 12:27 AM

Guru, because ATCQ will win anyway and Guru probs wont get anymore votes :(

Dirty 02-08-2011 03:05 AM

Big L for me. Much respect to Tribe but Lifestylez of Da Poor and Dangerous is one of my favorite albums and Big L was awesome

anticipation 02-08-2011 07:59 AM

ATCQ > Guru > 9th.

this was a really shitty draw.

James 02-08-2011 09:11 AM

Guru has one vote. Lots of people haven't heard Guru.

Phantom Limb 02-08-2011 12:37 PM

Guru is sick, but i enjoy listening to ATCQ way more.

djchameleon 02-08-2011 01:27 PM

tbh I don't know who Guru is and I have heard very little from Aceyalone

Kirby 02-08-2011 01:39 PM

Gang Starr = Guru + DJ Premier

Do you know who DJ Premier is? (made beats for Nas, Jay-Z, Royce, Mos Def, Big L, Biggie, Redman, Ghostface Killah, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Immortal Technique, KRS-One, MOP) probably one of the best producers of our time. If you know him, you should really know who Guru is. Guru was the rapper in, Premier was the producer, they were the duo known as Gang Starr.

Personally I'm not a massive fan of Guru (although I respect his talent) but I'm genuinely surprised someone so versed in the Hip Hop culture/industry doesn't know who Guru/Gang Starr is.

I know/heard of Gang Starr but the name Guru just didn't pop out at me, sorry.

Yes I do know Primo

Kirby 02-10-2011 04:43 AM

I was going to say, it's not that uncommon.

I knew of Gang Starr way before I knew dude's name was Guru.

oh okay, thank you.

These guys just need to get off their high horses then.

I'm voting for my favorite, not what I think the "best" is, so I went Aceyalone. I feel bad now, though, seeing as 9th wonder hasn't received a single vote. All that brilliance on those little brother albums and not one vote. For shame.

@djchameleon- no one likes Guru. Everyone claims to, but only as a procatalepsis. Like, "Oh yeah dude, Guru's a legend. Gangstarr. I respect it. It's not my personal favorite though. He kind of bores me."
Also, you'll get more shit right now for not having heard of his name because he recently died and was all over the news.

I love Guru. So STFU.

You don't have to lie to kick it James.

Sparky 02-10-2011 10:00 AM

I like guru, he has a cool voice.

I wouldn't say he's a legend. But Gangstarr had some nice tracks and whatnot.

I'm also sad at the lack of voting for 9th Wonder.

For me, it was Acey> 9th Wonder, but no disrespect to 9th either. Signed that 9th could have gotten a vote, but oh well.
