Hip Hop Poll: Round 2, Poll B

grrrr....I'm going with Public Enemy on this one but I wouldn't mind if Andre 3k won.

Bane of your existence 02-10-2011 11:34 PM

Andre 3k for me.

Dirty 02-11-2011 12:20 AM

Public Enemy. Chuck D with that powerful voice, I've always loved it.

RandyMarsh 02-11-2011 01:02 AM

Public Enemy, if Andre 3000 beats public enemy I will lose all respect (if I ever had any) for the rap section of this forum.

you definitely don't have respect for your elders

James 02-11-2011 03:54 AM

Public Enemy. Andre 3k shouldn't win, even Why? is better.

I personally haven't listened to Why? yet, been meaning to get around to them but Andre 3k is pretty damn talented. I don't think he should just be merely pushed aside like he's worthless. I guess that's just your opinion tough. You probably haven't heard any of his verses from mixtapes.

He's talented for sure and I like him a fair bit, but he shouldn't have got this far in the competition.

djchameleon 02-11-2011 04:03 AM

I agree, Beastie Boys should've won that poll that he was in.

Charlemagne 02-11-2011 09:46 AM

I picked Why?, because Yoni is great, fantastic lyrics and a unique flow.

lol how would you know? You don't know what age I am :p

gunnels 02-11-2011 11:58 AM

Public Enemy was one of my first dives into the genre, and It Takes a Nation is a classic for me.
However, Alopecia is one of my favorite albums out of any genre and appeals to me in a way that Public Enemy never did, so WHY? get my vote.

Phantom Limb 02-11-2011 02:21 PM

Andre 3000 is by far one of the best lyricists ever, how can you not vote for him?

Kirby 02-12-2011 12:00 AM

Three Stacks.
Public Enemy in a close second.

I like him a lot as a musician but I definitely don't think of him as anything special in the lyrics department.

jackhammer 02-12-2011 06:56 PM

Not even questionable. Do you know of any other Hip Hop artists that sound like Public Enemy both musically, thematically and lyrically? A literal wall of sound.

idk he's pretty awesome in the lyrics department, check these verses out

even though he's talented, there is no way I could choose him over PE though.

Janszoon 02-13-2011 07:19 AM

^All three of those have very middle-of-the-road lyrics to me. I like the songs (especially the third one) but it's definitely not the words that grab me.

EvilChuck 02-13-2011 10:14 AM

Public Enemy. In all honesty I havent listened to Why? so it was a choice between Andre 3k and PE, and I much prefer Chuck D's delivery over Andre 3k's

"So I'm watchin' her fine ass
Walked to my bedroom, and thought to myself
That's the shape of things to come
She said, "Why you in the club, and you don't make it precipitate?
You know, make it rain when you can make it thunderstorm"
I'm like, "Why? "
The world needs sun
The hood needs funds
There's a war going on and half the battle is guns
How dare I throw it on the floor
When people are poor
So I write like Edgar Allen to restore, got a cord
Umbilical attached to a place they can't afford
No landscaping, Or window draping
This old lady told me,
"If I ain't got nothin' good, say nathing"
That's why I don't talk much
I swear it don't cost much, to pay attention to me
I tell like it is, and I tell it how it could be"

those lyrics don't stand out to you?
