P.O.S. - Chill, Dummy (2017)

First album of 2017 I've really anticipated. A lot has changed since 2012's We Don't Even Live Here and I'm curious what Stef has to say about it.

My interest is piqued.

Queued up on Spotify:

Japandroids: Near To The Wild Heart Of Life (have not listened yet)
Cloud Nothings: Life Without Sound (so far loving this, no surprise)
Ty Segall: S/T (best Ty Segall release since Melted, quite possibly his best)
Priests: Nothing Feels Natural (haven't listened yet)
Sleater-Kinney: Live In Paris (the few songs I've heard are phenomenal)
The Flaming Lips: Oczy Mlody (giving up on this)
Parquet Courts: Human Performance (still growing on me, I'll appreciate it one day)
Nails: Unsilent Death (I still wonder how my head hasn't caved in from this yet)
The Men: Open Your Heart (haven't listened yet)
Marching Church: The World Is Not enough (saw them the other night, killed it)
Islands: Return To The Sea (yet to listen)
Faraquet: The View From This Tower (nothing else to describe this but pure, unadulterated math-core)

Japandroids - Celebration Rock

Never really gave this the love it deserved. I passed it off as a cleaner, less raw version of their debut but it's been my drinking/party album for the past week and half.

Glad to see you've come through.

You'd like the new album even less though. It's not their best work.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

Yeah I'm pretty indifferent towards it too.

Esben and the Witch - Older Terrors (2016)
Their fourth album isn't a massive departure from their previous album, and the brooding, doomy post-rock sound that the band evolved to still sounds unsettling. It's nothing mind-blowing but it's a good album none the less.

Rose Elinor Dougall - Stellurar (2017)
A decent upbeat indie pop album. I can't fault the execution and her gorgeous singing voice, but there is nothing unique or engaging enough for me to revisit this often in the future.

Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights (2002)
Despite being aware of Interpol since the early 00's this is the first time I listened to one of their albums. After listening to this a couple of times I can't see why this album is held in such high regard. It's not bad or anything, just not particularly interesting.

Austra - Feel it Break (2011)
Their 2013 album Olympia didn't do anything for me when it was released. Their debut album however is much more engaging. I'm picking up some nice The Knife/Fever Ray vibes from this.

Unpopular Music Opinion:

Turn on the Bright Lights is better than Unknown Pleasures
