Yesterday a melody related to the one in this song that I like by The Rolling Stones started going through my head for no reason that I can discern:

The Rolling Stones - "Ruby Tuesday" (1990 Live Performance)
The electric guitar and additional musical details stand out more in this recording than earlier recordings, I feel, so I like it more. Ahhh...comparing the two, I hear that some of the instrumental lines used in this recording were missing from the original. For example, the electric guitar in this version is playing a very detailed, twangy harmony. *That's* the reason it stands out and caught my attention! The overall result of all these additional musical details is that this recording sounds more "sparkly" to me than the original.

The Rolling Stones - "Ruby Tuesday" (An earlier recording, I think)
The instrumentation is much thinner and simpler than in the 1990 recording. I hear only piano, flute, guitar, bass (?), drums, and somewhat scratchy cello:
