When I cataloged my first few thousand LPs I used a similar scanner with Discogs retrieval and had my entire collection cataloged and indexed in no time at all.
Easiest way to find the exact pressing of a record is by going to the main album page and clicking "find your version" and then typing in the matrix numbers. They're the numbers around the label just after the grooves end.

The Discogs scanning app is useful but lots of newer albums have different pressings with even different color variations with the same barcode.

Only way is the matrix numbers. The matrix holds the key.

What if I told you... wait, no, I'm too good for that.

RSD hauls?

The only official record store day release I got was a Nels Cline and Shirley Horn split. I picked up Shabazz Palaces Live at Third Man Records and The Bug vs. Earth for $10 each. It's not vinyl, but I also got a KK Null and Jim O'Rourke collab on CD for four bucks.

My mate also found an old desk record player in his aunt's closet when he was helping her move. It had a bunch of loose records and singles in there so I helped him dig through it. Lots of Mexican music and 80s pop. I grabbed a couple that might be interesting that I'll report on later, but I found a loose PIL vinyl that I'm pretty sure is the 3rd record from Metal Box which is dope as hell. Also copped an Edgar Winter record, a Bela Lugosi record that I think is a radio show, and some Yoko Plastic Band single. Nice surprise.

I worked yesterday and even though we didn't have RSD stock because we weren't approved in time for it, we had a 15% off all used records so we were busy as f*ck.

I also refuse to participate in the "line up two hours early like it's black friday" bullsh*t. I'll buy the leftovers the day after because odds are I'm interested in the less sought after stuff anyway.

Only thing this year I really wanted was the german Swans record and I just bought it cheaper on discogs an hour ago along with a Magnolia Electric Co. record.

I wasn't interested in the Waits Brawlers, Bawlers, Bastards thing because they were sold separately. I don't like that for some reason.

The thing I'm really waiting for is my goddamn KAYO DOT CHOIRS OF THE EYE THAT I PAID FOR AND HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT IS. YOU HEAR THAT TOBY? GET IT TOGETHER MY DUDE.

I'm just kidding Tobes...I can't get mad at you.

Tom Waits is my favorite person ever. I'm waiting for a sold as one new box set or maybe selling my car and buying the old one.

It's currently $266 on Discogs right now.
