Vinyl Thread Six Pack

1. What is the oldest record that you own?

2. What is the most valuable record that you own (can be based on monetary or personal value)?

3. What is the first record that you've purchased yourself?

4. If you have any, what is your favourite hand-me-down album?

5. Do you have any RSD releases? Name some or all if you do.

6. What is your "holy grail" of vinyl?

Nice six pack, Frownie.

1. What is the oldest record that you own?

Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and the Comets

2. What is the most valuable record that you own (can be based on monetary or personal value)?

In terms of monetary value, I'd say an original copy of Introducing the Beatles that I bought from the cutout bin at Kresge's back around 1975.

3. What is the first record that you've purchased yourself?

That my mother didn't buy? I'd say it was the Kinks' Kinkdom. I played that record to death.

4. If you have any, what is your favourite hand-me-down album?

When I was little I 'inherited' several of these from a former resident apparently. I don't really have a favorite but the albums included the Monkees' first two albums and something from the Tremelowes. My Aunt did give me one of her Chubby Checker albums once

5. Do you have any RSD releases? Name some or all if you do.

No
6. What is your "holy grail" of vinyl?

My Beatles' collection including the Bootlegs

Awesome idea!!

1. What is the oldest record that you own?

Discogs can sometimes suck because pressings ca have missing info but I'm pretty sure the four shellac 78's that I have from the USSR is the oldest. There are tracks from soviet films from 1943 and I can only assume they're from the same time period.

2. What is the most valuable record that you own (can be based on monetary or personal value)?

I have records that might sell for a bit more than this but I have a silver picture disc of Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta that is super hard to find any lower than $150. NObody likes giving them up so as far as value goes I'd say that.

3. What is the first record that you've purchased yourself?

Deloused in the Comatorium by The Mars Volta. Bought it on their website when I was 14. I think it was only like $20. ow it's worth a lot as mentioned above. I also bought Godspeed You! Black Emperor's F#A#∞ right after as well. They were my two firsts.

4. If you have any, what is your favourite hand-me-down album?

Not the best Waits album but my dads copy of Foreign Affairs helped usher in my love affair of Tom Waits.

5. Do you have any RSD releases? Name some or all if you do.

I honestly think I have a sh*t ton that I don't even know about because I bought them second hand. I did buy The Story of Abner Jay on RSD last year. Others that I know off the top of my head is a green edition of The Darjeeling Limited Soundtrack, Mewithoutyou's Ten Stories on purple wax, and a 180 gram RE of Miles Davis's 'Round About Midnight.

6. What is your "holy grail" of vinyl?

I have a few.

Original Press of Naked City by John Zorn
Brighter Days by Stanton Davis's Ghetto Mysticism.
The Caretaker - An Empty Bliss Beyond This World

I also have discography goals. I have a complete Talking Heads LP collection but some include RE's. I'd like it to be original pressings. I have a long way to go to achieve my Smiths and Zappa collections.

By the way, holy grail usually refers to an album you're seeking.

Fair enough. I was wondering what you meant by holy grail anyway.

Maybe the original Beatles' Yesterday and Today butcher cover then.
