Gomez are fantastic, really beautiful sound.
Buffseeds, just started listening to and they have a really original sound.
Graham Coxon is ideal before you go out music, well worth a listen.
Am off to find Neutral Milk Hotel, sounds good.

i've got quitye a few actually My fave Pedro The Lion, Seachange, Sebadoh,Sparta, Spiritualized, Spoon. Super chunk, The Shins, the Promise ring..... there's a whole bunch and these bands are really good check them out

You should check out some Australian & New Zealand Indie bands:

Degrees K - these guys are from NZ - killer live rock band
Evermore - also from NZ, technically not an indie but beautiful music
Little Birdy - grrl lead singer who is totally mesmerising onstage. Sweet Indie Pop with moments of pure rock
End of Fashion - Just got signed to a major but nice pop-rock
Night Hour - solo guy, think Elliott Smith, Pedro the Lion, Death Cab For Cutie and you are around the right place musically
The Tremors - drrttyy rock...
The RedSun Band - Sonic Youth...but by "little" girls

indie is such a broad term, spanning franz ferdinand and the libs to ramones (though all of these bands come under other categories too)

how about the 'yeah yeah yeahs'? fronted by Karen O (not to be confused with Kelly O!!), a really charismatic singer check out 'date with the night' which is played in a lot of clubs and is great, really frenzied and thrilling. 'maps' by them is slower and is truly beautiful definitely one of my favourite ever songs
