Default Around The World In A Year : The Urban Hatemonger Blog

I've decided my goal for 2008 will be to listen to as many albums from as many countries as I possibly can.
But I need some help filling out the blanks. To start this of I figured the best place to start would be Europe.
I shall pick one band from each country , I have been through my own collection and so far i have ...
Quote:
Channel Islands - Dreadzone (Sort of)
England - The Fall
Scotland - Belle & Sebastian
Wales - Gorky's Zygotic Mynci
N Ireland - David Holmes
Ireland - Virgin Prunes
France - Air
Spain - Claustrofobia
Portugal - The Parkinsons
Iceland - Mum
Switzerland - Celtic Frost
Germany - Can
Denmark - The Raveonettes
Sweden - Peter Bjorn and John
Norway - Datarock
Finland - Aavikko
Netherlands - Clan Of Xymox
Belgium - The Honeymoon Killers
Turkey - Joe Strummer
Poland - Mind Pollution
Which means I need bands from the following countries if anybody can recommend some please...

Quote:
Luxembourg
Andorra
San Marino
Italy
Malta
Austria
Czech Republic
Slovenia
Slovakia
Hungary
Ukraine
Belarus
Lithuania
Latvia
Estonia
Russia
Moldova
Romania
Bulgaria
Croatia
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Serbia
Macedonia
Albania
Greece
Cyprus
Genre isn't really an issue , I just want something interesting.

Laibach, from Slovenia is a must. Fun too.

Also, I'd suggest The Beat Fleet from Croatia, but Marijan may have a better choice for you.

Tomorrow I'll dig through my random folk/post-rock archive, I know I have some stuff from weird places. On the subject of European folk, Urban have you ever listened to Vashti Bunyan? She was like, one of the biggest artists in the psych folk/acid-folk/freak folk whatever they're calling it now and you being a fan of Nick Drake (they were pretty similar in more ways than just musically) and Devendra Banhart (she was a huge influence of his) I think you'd like her even if you didn't you could probably still respect it for what she's done with music. She's from London though =/ anyway once I'm on my computer I'll look through my shit and see what I can find.

Go and get a Eurovision cd or two.
