Buddy Guy was influential on those other guys. It's a bit ironic too that Jimi Hendrix would be accused of "
blues wanking," because Jimi wasn't strictly Blues, he didn't play Blues songs only and he pulled ideas from all over, incorporated them into his own style and made up stuff on his own stuff along the way too. I guess everybody has their own criteria for "guitar wankery."
