The only reason VU are far more influential than Nirvana, is because they were around some 20 years before Nirvana were ever thought of. To make a fair comparison, you need to take a band from around the same era as Nirvana.

Diamond Head one of the best bands to have ever come out of the UK, finally got some of the recognition that they deserved due to Metallica covering their songs and the amount of bands that have covered VU material is endless.
