Judging by the new single the band seem to be going for a softer but more progressive sound, even the guitars don't sound as heavy as they did on Ghost Reveries and Watershed. But you can trace the evolution in their sound over the last few albums and this album will bring them even closer to prog rock. The vocals sound good enough though, I thought they would sound a bit cheesy but they managed to keep far enough away from cheesiness, if you want growls you can always listen to their previous albums I guess. Going to have to listen to the song a couple of more times to decide whether the whole album is going to be worth a listen. Watershed was good but I never really felt the urge to listen to it that often so I don't know what this album is going to be like.
