Was it that bad? I used to be a fan of QOTSA and I've seen them a few times. The first time I saw them was with Nick Oliveri and they were very good. But when I saw them at a festival after they released Lullabies To Paralyze I lost interest in them. The energy and danger just wasn't there and they (read Josh Homme) came across as self-indulgent and giving off a "we're awesome, listen to us" vibe. I think Songs For The Deaf was their last good album and kicking out Nick Oliveri was a huge mistake.
