I probably listen the Beatles more than anyone on this forum. In fact this week it's been hard for me to listen to anything other than Beatles. I love their music and listen to their music so much that I realize what they really were. They didn't create or innovate anything. Other bands were already ahead of the curve. The Beatles got credit for things they didn't do. Their lyrics were average-to-garbage but their music sounded great.
They got popular with great marketing and horrible music (pre-Rubber Soul). Then when they started making quality music everyone thought it was a big deal.
The Beatles are great and I give them credit for bringing underground music to the masses but other bands were much better.
